What is Mushroom Swiss Burger
A Mushroom Swiss Burger is a mouth-watering combination of a juicy burger patty, sautéed onions and mushrooms, and gooey Swiss cheese, all put between two soft buns. It has the perfect blend of tastes and textures that will make you want more.
Vegan Swiss Mushroom Burger vs. Regular Swiss Burger
Why does this vegan mushroom swiss burger taste just as good as the original, non-vegan burger? Ok, let me inform you it’s not because vegans are always trying to make foods that taste like foods that aren’t vegan. No, no, no. The reason is that this vegan mushroom swiss burger is just so darn tasty!
But honestly, this vegan burger tastes just as good as the non-vegan version because we use high-quality, flavorful ingredients like sauteed onions and mushrooms and a yummy, plant-based swiss cheese. And don’t forget the toasted bun.
Also, if you choose the vegan option, you’ll not only get a tasty meal, but you’ll also be helping the animals and the planet. So, in the end, everybody wins.
So don’t worry about missing out on a tasty burger the next time you want one, but you are vegan. This vegan mushroom swiss burger will give you everything you want and more. Trust me, both your taste buds and the animals will be glad you did this.
Ingredients for Vegan Swiss Mushroom Burger
You’ll need the following to make a vegan Mushroom Swiss Burger:
A vegan burger patty: You can buy vegan burger patties already made or make your own with beans, grains, and vegetables.
Vegan Swiss cheese: Most grocery stores sell different brands of vegan Swiss cheese, or you can make your own with nuts, seeds, and nutritional yeast.
Mushrooms: This recipe calls for a few cups of sliced mushrooms. You can use any kind of mushroom you want, but button or cremini mushrooms work well.
Onions: Cut onions into thin slices and set them aside.
Two burger buns: This recipe calls for two burger buns. You can use any kind of bun you want, or for a low-carb option, try lettuce leaves.
How to make Vegan Mushroom Swiss Burger
Step 1: Heat your skillet to medium heat and add plant-based butter.
Step 2: Add the sliced onions to the pan and sauté them for about 8 to 10 minutes, until they are soft and start to get brown color. Once the onions are nice and soft, add mushrooms and sauté until they’re soft and caramelized.
Step 3: When the mushrooms and onions are done, place them aside for now and prepare your plant-based patties.
Step 4: Toast the burger buns in a pan with a bit of butter or in the oven while the patties are cooking.
Step 5: Place your vegan burger patties on the pan and cook for 3 to 4 minutes on each side or until they are hot all the way through and have a crispy outside. After you flip your pattie, add some caramelized onions and mushrooms to the pan.
Step 6: When the patties are nearly done cooking, cover them with caramelized mushrooms and onions and put a slice of vegan Swiss cheese on top of each one. Give the cheese about 30 seconds to melt.
Step 7: Put the burgers together and add toppings of your choice, like lettuce, a slice of tomato, and vegan mayo if you like.
Important Tips for Best vegan Swiss Burger
Tip 1: Ensure your skillet is heated to medium heat before adding plant-based butter. This will ensure that your onions and mushrooms cook perfectly as they sauté.
Tip 2: Don’t be afraid to let your mushrooms and onions caramelize! Their flavor will be deep and rich as a result, taking your veggie burger to the next level.
Tip 3: Remember to toast your burger buns! In addition to adding a great contrast to the soft, juicy burger, this will give them a crispy texture.
Tip 4: To give your patties an extra taste boost, top it with a slice of vegan Swiss cheese and caramelized onions.
Tip 5: Although I’ve not added toppings to this recipe, you can be creative while choosing your toppings! Although lettuce, tomato, and vegan mayo are excellent choices, don’t be afraid to give them a unique spin. My suggestion is this delicious vegan tartar sauce. Also, consider avocado, pickles, or even vegan bacon for a special and mouthwatering taste.
