Vegan Chick-Fil-A Nuggets (CopyCat)

Vegan chick fil a chicken recipe

Vegan Chick-fil-A nuggets are a plant-based copycat made with extra firm tofu marinated in a dill pickle brine, then coated in a seasoned flour and rice starch crust and fried until golden. The tofu gives a firm, chewy bite close to the original, while the brine and paprika coating carry the same tangy, spiced flavour. Ready in about 35 minutes total.

What gives these vegan Chick-Fil-A nuggets their tangy flavour?

The dill pickle brine is the key. Soaking the pressed tofu in it for a few minutes infuses the same sharp, tangy note found in the original fast food nuggets, before the pieces are coated and fried.

How do you make vegan Chick-Fil-A nuggets crispy?

To prepare this recipe, these are the steps to follow:

The first thing we need to do is to press and drain our tofu block for 20 minutes.

We need to get rid of most of the liquids in the tofu for this recipe.

After that, mix the dill pickle juice and the water in a small bow. Add the salt.

At this point, cut the tofu block into 6 pieces and place them in the brine we prepared with the dill pickle juice.

Let nuggets brine for about 5 minutes before getting them out.

Now prepare two bowls and get a smaller one too.

In the smaller one, pour the Oat milk, then mix the dried onion, the paprika, the crushed garlic and the sugar in another bowl.

In the remaining one we need to put the flour, the rice starch and a pinch of a salt.

The only thing to do before eating these nuggets, now, is to bread them:

Roll each nugget in the paprika mixture, then toss them into the milk bowl and lastly roll each nugget in the flour and starch mix.

They are ready to fry.

Deep-fry them over high heat until they turn golden brown.

Sprinkle with a pinch of salt and serve.

What sauce goes well with vegan Chick-Fil-A nuggets?

These nuggets are great served with a dill-flavoured yoghurt sauce or BBQ sauce.
