The other half

You came here for a recipe.
This is the bit that comes after.

Most people who cannot stick to healthy eating are not short on discipline or information. The behaviour is driven by a pattern that sits underneath the decision, built by repetition and running before you consciously choose anything. Cognitive Pattern Reprogramming is designed to work at that level rather than arguing with it from above, using guided audio of fifteen to twenty minutes a day.

Why can I not stick to healthy eating?

Nobody arrives here short on information. You have read the labels, done the swaps and know exactly what a good week looks like. You could write the plan yourself. And then Wednesday happens, and by Thursday you are telling yourself you will start again on Monday.

That gap is not a discipline problem and it is not a knowledge problem. Eating behaviour is overwhelmingly habitual. It is cued by the time on the clock, by tiredness, by a particular mood or a particular room, and those cues fire before conscious thought gets a vote. By the time you are standing in front of the open pantry at nine at night, the decision has largely already been made. What is left is the part of you that narrates it afterwards.

This is why willpower has such a short shelf life. You can hold a pattern down for about nine days by force. Then something goes wrong at work, or you sleep badly, or a Tuesday is simply long, and the effort you were spending on holding it down gets spent somewhere else. The pattern was never removed. It was only being sat on.

Willpower was never the thing running the show

Rob Edmonds is a Strategic Psychotherapist who has spent twenty years watching capable people fight themselves and lose. Not people who lacked motivation. People who ran businesses, raised children and hit every deadline, and still could not make themselves do the one thing they most wanted to do.

His view is straightforward. The patterns driving most of what you do sit underneath the part of you that makes decisions, and arguing with them from above does not shift them. The argument is happening on the wrong floor of the building.

So the work has to happen on the floor the pattern is actually on. That is what Cognitive Pattern Reprogramming is built to do.

What is Cognitive Pattern Reprogramming?

CPR is Rob's method, delivered as guided audio rather than talk therapy. You listen for fifteen to twenty minutes a day, usually at lights out, and it is designed to work with the subconscious patterns underneath conscious decisions rather than with the decisions themselves.

In practice that means no couch, no waiting list and no retelling your history to a stranger. It also means you do not have to revisit anything painful to work on it, which is the part that stops a lot of people ever starting. There is no homework, nothing to journal and nothing to analyse. There are more than 50 sessions across eleven pathways, from sleep and overthinking through to menopause, ADHD focus and habit change.

It is built on established practice in strategic psychotherapy and clinical hypnotherapy. It is not positive thinking, and it is not a meditation app with a different logo on it.

01

You pick the pattern

Sleep or stress to start with. The one that is actually costing you something right now, not the one you think you should fix.

02

You listen

Fifteen to twenty minutes, usually at lights out. Headphones on, eyes shut. You do not have to concentrate, and most people drift off partway through.

03

Give it 21 nights

Patterns are built by repetition, so they come apart the same way. Around three weeks is where a lot of people notice they reacted differently to something.

Straight answers

Why can I not stick to healthy eating?

Because the decision is usually not being made by the part of you that read the plan. Eating behaviour is heavily habitual, cued by time of day, mood and environment, and those cues fire before conscious thought gets involved. That is why knowing more does not help much past a certain point, and why the same person can be consistent for nine days and then not.

What is Cognitive Pattern Reprogramming?

CPR is the method developed by Rob Edmonds, a Strategic Psychotherapist and Clinical Hypnotherapist. It is delivered as guided audio rather than talk therapy, and it is designed to work with the subconscious patterns that sit underneath conscious decisions. You listen for fifteen to twenty minutes a day. There is no homework and nothing to analyse.

How is this different from a meditation app?

Meditation trains attention in general. CPR is built around a specific pattern, such as night-time overthinking or the craving cycle, and is designed to work on what sits underneath it. The sessions follow a clinical framework rather than general mindfulness, and they do not ask you to concentrate or keep a streak.

Do I have to concentrate, or stay awake?

No. Press play, close your eyes, and let it run. Most people fall asleep partway through and that is fine. The session is not asking anything of you and nothing is missed by drifting off.

How long before anything changes?

It varies from person to person. The programs are built around 21 nights, because that is the window in which repetition starts to do its work, and it is where a lot of people first notice they responded differently to something that would normally have set them off.

What does the free trial include?

Seven nights of the program matched to what you pick, sleep or stress. No credit card is required to start. After the trial the full library of more than 50 sessions is $29.95/month and you can cancel any time, with a 30 day money back guarantee.

Do I have to be vegan or plant-based for this to work?

No. The food and the mind work are separate. Plenty of people arrive here through a recipe and stay for the second half without changing anything about how they eat.

Does this replace seeing a doctor or a therapist?

No. Cognitive Pattern Reprogramming is designed to sit alongside medical, psychological and other professional care, not in place of it. If you are under care for a diagnosed condition, keep your practitioner in the loop. Results vary from person to person.

Why tonight and not one day

The pattern does not get tired of itself

Left alone it does not fade out, it just gets more practised. Another year of it is another year of 9pm, another year of 2am, another year of starting again on Monday. Tonight costs nothing and asks for no card, so the only thing you are risking is twenty minutes and an early night.
