Vegan Gingerbread House Recipe
A vegan gingerbread house uses sunflower oil, soy milk and molasses in place of butter, egg and dairy, with the same spiced dough, cut into panels and glued together with vegan royal icing. Chill the dough before rolling, bake the panels flat, then assemble once they have cooled completely so the icing sets properly.
Vegan Gingerbread House
This vegan gingerbread house recipe swaps a few key ingredients but keeps close to the flavour and texture of the original. It is not difficult, though the assembly takes patience and a bit of imagination once the panels are baked and cooled.

- Beat it until the thick dough is formed.
- Now, divide the dough into two equal halves.
- After that, flatten the dough and give it the shape of a disc. In this way, two discs will be formed.
- Cover these discs with parchment paper and place them in the freezer for two hours.
- Preheat the oven at 325 degrees and place the discs into the oven
- After taking them out, roll the discs. And with the help of a pizza cutter, give them a shape.
- Place the discs on cookie sheets.
- Pour royal Vega icing over it. Your vegan gingerbread house is ready.
Tips & Tricks
A few tips make the gingerbread house easier to assemble.
Chilling is important
Place the discs in the refrigerator before giving them a shape. This makes them much easier to handle and shape properly. You can also keep them chilled for up to a day, which gives better results.
Use sunflower oil
Sunflower oil is a plain vegan oil that does not compete with the spices in the dough. Other neutral vegan oils will also work if that is what you have on hand.
Use ground spices
Ground spices mix through the dough evenly, so the flavour comes out consistent in every bite. Whole or coarsely crushed spices will not distribute as well and can leave patches that taste stronger than the rest.

Is it possible to make a vegan gingerbread house at home?
Yeah, it is possible. With the help of a few ingredients and the tricks we have mentioned above, you can easily make your Christmas beautiful and attract the attention of the guests.
For how much time should we chill the discs?
You can chill the discs for up to 2 hours. Here we will suggest you extend the chill time because it gives better results.
Can we use any other oil instead of sunflower oil?
Yeah, you can. It’s up to you what kind of oil you do use for making a Gingerbread house. But make sure that you use vegan oil. Otherwise, the gingerbread house will no longer remain vegan.
Can we use a kneader for kneading the dough?
Yeah, you can use a kneader. It’s up to you. If you want to knead the dough with your hands, then you can also do that.
